Zhenxu, Guo (My Grandfather)
I was the only grandchild that was brought up by my grandparents until four years old, when it was time for me to go to the kindergarten. I feel special and loved. During vacations, my grandpa would take me to visit my relatives in different places. He would tell me stories about the places we went to, things we saw on the way, and people we met. I would never forget the scene that I sat next to my grandpa on the bus on the way to my aunt. I still could remember his gentle pat on my shoulders and his low-key voice telling a story. I think it is my grandpa that empowered me to take adventures, to discover things around me and fostered my interest in traveling. I like this saying, “ He that travels far knows much.”
Chanjuan Guo (My Mother)
In my memory, my mother, just like an ordinary woman in a conservative Chinese family, was strict with her children, but she definitely loved her children by showing her love in action instead of in words. In old days even nowadays in China, there exists gender inequality. However, my mother treated my sister and me the same way as my brother, which influences me so much on my pursuit of career. What influences me most is her patience and strong will. When I was in the Primary School, my mom was diagnosed as having a cancer. Since then, she fought against the illness. It was with my own eyes that I saw how strong my mom was and she always showed her patience and her smile to assure us.
Xiaocong Chen (My Sister)
My sister is 4 years older than me. However, she is like my mother, a great helper of my mom. She helped my mom to do some housework, to pick me up from school, to read me some books after she finished her homework, and to do something more than what a sister would do. My sister was so tolerant about my naughty moments and she would talk to me and fix my misbehaviour. She taught me how to care about others, how to take care of others who need helps, and how to make a choice when I was facing a crucial moment—just follow my heart. Thanks to my sister, always I will choose what my heart
tell me to do.
Yanling Zhong (My Friend)
Yanling was one of my best playmates when I was in the primary school. She is my good friend since then. We talked about things that happened in school, shared our news with each other, held the same interest in music, fiction books and cartoon movies. We supported each other when we met some difficulties. Yanling is an important part in my life, which made me childhood full of delight and comfort.
Zequan Liu (My English Teacher of Primary School)
Miss Liu is one of the teachers that I will always remember in my life. Because of her trust and care about me, she chose me as the English Class Representative, which offered me more chances to practice my English, to improve my leadership ability, and to communicate with my classmates. Thanks to Miss Liu’s rich experience abroad, She shared with us so many interesting stories and anecdotes happening around her home and abroad, which aroused my interest in learning English and my eager to know more around the world. She was knowledgeable and had her unique way of teaching so that I built up the foundation of my English. Moreover, she was so caring and in her spare time, she would talk with me, trying to help me reduce the pressure from school and home at the time when I faced the hard moment—knowing my mother was seriously sick. I am so grateful to have her support which made my primary school life easier.
